WASHINGTON: The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress November 3 of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Bahrain of 30 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) T2K Unitary Missiles and associated parts, equipment, training and logistical support for a complete package worth approximately $70 million.
The Government of Bahrain has requested a possible sale of 30 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) T2K Unitary Missiles, Missile Common Test Device software, ATACMS Quality Assurance Team support, publications and technical documentation, training, U.S. government and contractor technical and engineering support, and other related elements of program support.
The estimated cost is $70 million.
This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country which has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.
Bahrain intends to use these defense articles and services to modernize its armed forces. The Bahrain Defense Forces intends to expand its existing army architecture to counter major regional threats. This will contribute to the Bahrain military's goal of modernizing its capability while further enhancing interoperability with the U.S. and other allies.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The prime contractor will be Lockheed Martin Industries in Camden, Arkansas. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
Implementation of this proposed sale will require the assignment of approximately three government or contractor representatives to travel to Bahrain for a period of two weeks for equipment de-processing/fielding, system checkout and training.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

أبلغت وكالة التعاون الدفاعي والأمني الكونغرس الأميركي عن إمكانية عقد صفقة مع البحرين عبارة عن 30 صاروخ "أتاكمز" (ATACMS) أحادي الرأس طراز تي2كاي T2K، صمنع لوكهيد مارتن (Lckheed Martin) بالإضافة إلى المعدات وقطع الغيار والتدريب والدعم اللوجستي.
